Island Getaway

It was two weeks ago that I went to the new Bath & Body Works Store in the Eaton Centre in Toronto. Of course I spent more money than I expected.

Slatkin & Co. Vanilla Coconut Scented Candle. Smells good enough to eat.

The one thing that I really wanted to buy was the True Blue Spa Lay It On Thick Intense Moisture Shea Body Cream. I did not buy it, but instead purchased the True Blue Spa Tahiti, Sweetie Body Lotion with Monoi Oil. The Tahiti Sweetie body cream smells amazing, but the scent is too strong for me. I can't decide if I should keep it or give it away.

Smashbox Cosmetics Complexion Rehab

Watch the Complexion Rehab video at glow.ca/smashboxgetthelook

I don't leave home without applying the Photo Finish Foundation Primer. It is awesome. I have been debating purchasing the Photo Op Under Eye Brightener. After watching the video I am definitely going to get it. I love the idea that it is good for all skin tones.

I Love My Nintendo DS

My Nintendo DS has to be my favourite purchase of the year. Great use of reward points. I use it all the time. It came in handy on my vacation. I have only had to charge it 3 times since May. I have purchased 6 games for my Nintendo DS. I am always looking for something challenging.

This was the first came that I purchased - Professor Layton and the Curious Village. It has great puzzles.

I have only played the Indiana Jones game once. It required two hands and I had to follow the instructions in book.

I love crossword puzzles, so it was an easy purchase. The game also wordsearch and anagrams.

This is my least favourite of the games. I will have to give it another chance.

Playing Brain Age is a good way to train your brain. My brain age is a lot older than my age. I need to remember to train everyday. It also includes Sudoku. I finally know how to play. It is so much fun.

Mystery Case Files is my newest purchase. I have not played it yet.

Bath & Body Works Eaton Centre

I heard today that they are opening a Bath & Body Works store in the Eaton Centre on July 12, 2009. If it is true, I would be so happy. When Bath & Body Works opened in Canada last year, I was shocked that they did not open one in the Eaton Centre. It is a big mall in downtown Toronto. Better late, than never. I will surely be there.

One Week

I usually don't complain about customer service. I have only done it once before on this blog in the last year. However, last Tuesday I went to Noah's Natural Foods store in Toronto to purchase some vitamins. One of the items I wanted was not in stock. The cashier said that they would be putting in an order the following Monday. She gave me a business card and put the day and time that I should call to put in the order for the item.

I called the store Monday morning and spoke to someone to request that the item be ordered. I was told that in order for me to put in the order, I would have to go to the store and pay in advance. I told the girl on the phone that I was not told that when I was in the store last week. I was quite frustrated as it was very difficult to find this item. During the time that I was waiting to place the order, I tried several other health stores to no avail. I told her that I would go to The Big Carrot. That is another natural food store in Toronto. I called the store and luckily they had the item in stock. I asked them to hold it for me and I would pick it up on Tuesday (today).

Although it took one week to get the item, I discovered a store that I have wanted to go to for the longest time. It is out of the way. Toronto is a big city and even though I was born here, there are a lot of places in the city I have never been.

On my way to The Big Carrot, I passed a store called Grassroots. I decided that I would drop in on my way back to the subway. This store sells environmentally-friendly products such as personal care items, stationery, and household cleaning products. I purchased a new travel mug as the one that I have now is impossible to clean. My hand will actually be able to fit in the mug. I also purchased a reusable lunch bag. It is impossible to find a plastic bag in the house now to use for my lunch since I use reusable shopping bags. All stores in Toronto are now charging 5 cents for plastic bags.

Biodegradable Corn Travel Mug

Say goodbye to single-use, disposable cups! This durable commuter mug is a great alternative for those who love their lattes on the go.

Best of all, because it's made entirely from corn, it is completely biodegradable!

Boasting a solid 17oz capacity and a stylish graphic of Grassroots' inspiring environmental slogans, this travel mug is:

  • Made from 100% U.S. corn plastic (natural fermented corn starch with less than 1% non-toxic dye)
  • Free of petrochemicals
  • Biodegradable
  • Non-leaching
  • Microwave safe
  • We recommend hand washing your corn mug to preserve its rich luster.
$9.99

Reuseable Cotton Drawstring Lunch Bag

This washable cotton lunch bag - with drawstring closure - is a great alternative to plastic or nylon lunch bags!

Do your part for the environment and proudly carry your lunch to school or work with an unbleached cotton lunch bag.

Available in natural colour

Matt & Nat Portman Bag

I have finally found a new bag for the summer. I was looking for a bag in a bright colour, but it is not black. I purchased the Matt & Nat Portman bag today at Winners. The regular price was $79.99, but it was on sale for $59.00. Winners sells brand name items at reduced prices. The tag lists the original price at $140.

It is my first Matt & Nat bag. Matt & Nat makes eco-friendly, vegan handbags and accessories. I usually purchase leather bags, but this bag was the perfect shape. The shape of bag that I prefer are satchel bags. The bag has pockets on the inside and outside, with strong sturdy handles which are also very important. I can't wait to use the bag.

This might be the start of a new fashion relationship.

Happy Canada Day

Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canadians. It is a nice break in the middle of a work week.

Last July 1st I decided to start a 30 day challenge. I would not purchase a new bag for the whole month (actually 31 days). Well this year I am not taking a challenge. I have found it quite difficult to find a bag that I really like. I purchased a bag to take on my trip and then I bought two bags on vacation - the Harrods and Longchamp bags. I don't really count the bag that I bought at the dollar store.

My most recent purchase purchse was a Lisa Simpson Nintendo DS Lite Console Case for my Nintendo DS. It was only $4.99 at EB Games.

Today I received an email from Shopbop. Take an extra 25% off all Sale items for two days only. Enter code EXTRA25 at checkout.

I was also excited to read that they have extended the international shipping promotion. All orders to Canada ship for free. This offer ends July 31, 2009 at 11:59PM PDT.

Summer might be over before I find the bag that I want.
