I Am Not a V.I.B
If you shop at Sephora you have probably have been asked whether you are a Beauty Insider at the checkout. It is free to join. You earn one point for every dollar spent.
Images from the Sephora website
V.I.B. (Very Important Beauty Insider) is the premium level for beauty insiders. In addition to the rewards that you get as a beauty insider, you also get free deluxe samples, exclusive monthly perks, pre-released products, and more. I currently have 407 points in my Beauty Bank. According to the website you have to spend $350 at a Sephora store or online in a calendar year (January to December) and you automatically earn V.I.B. status for that year and the next.
Actually I thought that I was already a V.IB., so maybe the email was sent in error. Either way I really should not be spending money on cosmetics. I still have to make my list of all the bath & beauty products. It will take time.

After I updated the post I found an email from Sephora that stated that I was an official V.I.B through 12/31/2011. It had a store coupon attached to redeem. Maybe I will try to use it. It is valid now through February 19, 2010.

Shopaholics Anonymous
My 12 step program for the year to spend less money:
(1) Delete emails that have the word SALE in the subject line.
(2) It is possible to just window shop. I do not have to feel the need to buy something before I leave a store.
(3) Magazines are meant to be read and not to be used as a catalogue of items to purchase.
(4) Spend less time shopping online and more time being creative - knitting, photography, jewellery making
(5) No impulse shopping. Buy only what I need.
(6) Save money for a trip. I do not have a vacation planned this year, but it would be nice to get away for at least a couple of days.
(7) Do not go to the Coach website. Too much temptation.
(8) Make a list of all the cosmetics and bath & beauty products that I own. This way I will know what I have and what I need to purchase. I just finished my Smashbox Primer. It will be number one on my list of items to purchase. It is a must have.
(9) Limit the number of times a week that I go to Starbucks.
(10) Don't be pulled in by deals that offer bonus points or a gift card if you spend a certain amount of money. It is a trick stores use to get you to spend more money than you planned.
(11) Avoid the makeup counter at Holt Renfrew. Specifically the Yves Saint Laurent counter. They always want to do my makeup and then I end up spending more money than I should.
(12) If I purchase a new bag, I will have to give one away. (I hope my sister does not read this)

Too Many Products
I tried to capture as much as I could of my dressing table. I have more bath & body products than one person should have.
I have eye cream that I do not use. I have already posted about the many lip glosses that I have. Today I used a mascara I don't remember purchasing. I do not make New Years resolutions, but this year I will put myself on a twelve step program to recovery. I will update that in a upcoming post.
P.S. If you have brown eyes, do not use brown mascara. I did not notice what my eyelashes looked like until the end of the day when I was in proper lighting.

Down With Winter
If I had known how cold it was going to be this winter I would have purchased a warmer winter coat. My winter coat is nice, but it was not meant to be worn in -25 C weather. It is extremely cold in Toronto this year. This will be a long and cold winter.
I would really like to get a down filled winter coat, however it is quite difficult to find winter coat this time of year and in my size. The only winter coats that can find are available on line. I have never purchased clothing online. I always try on any piece of clothing that I purchase.
Land's End Women's Plus Size Morgan Down Coat $79.99
Land's End Women's Plus Size Dory Long Down Coat $189.50
