On Tuesday January 12, 2010, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti, the most powerful to hit in a century. The people of Haiti need our help.
The Canada for Haiti benefit telethon aired on Friday January 22, 2010 at 7:00pm on the CBC, CTV and Global. The money raised will be distributed equally among a coalition of organizations such as World Vision Canada, Oxfam Canada, the Canadian Red Cross Society, UNICEF Canada, and Save the Children Canada.

From 8:00 to 10:00pm the Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief telethon aired on American networks.
The telethon included performances from Wyclef Jean, Shakira, Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, Madonna, Neil Young, John Legend, and a group performance from Jay-Z, Rihanna and The Edge. The album is now available on the Apple iTunes store for only $7.99 for 20 songs. Proceeds from the sale of the album will be donated to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund, Oxfam America, Partners in Health, the Red Cross, UNICEF, United Nations World Programme and the Yele Haiti Foundation.

Thanks for posting about the Canada for Haiti Benefit and for mentioning that donations can still be made. It will take a lot of work and funds to help the Haitian people stabilize and rebuild their country.
